This refreshing Jell-O Salad is a simple, colorful dessert featuring flavored gelatin, mixed fruit, and a creamy whipped topping. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for parties, potlucks, or a light treat on a warm day.

Ingredients

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 package (3 oz) flavored gelatin (such as lime or strawberry)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water

Fruit

  • 1 cup mixed fruit (such as pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, and grapes)

Topping

  • 1/2 cup whipped cream or whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Gelatin: In a medium bowl, dissolve the gelatin powder in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved and there are no granules left.
  2. Add Cold Water: Stir in 1 cup of cold water to the dissolved gelatin mixture to cool it down and prepare it for setting.
  3. Mix in Fruit: Gently fold in 1 cup of mixed fruit, such as pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, and grapes, ensuring the fruit is evenly distributed throughout the gelatin.
  4. Refrigerate to Set: Pour the gelatin and fruit mixture into a mold or your desired serving dish. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for about 4 hours, or until the gelatin is fully set and firm.
  5. Add Whipped Topping: Once set, garnish the Jell-O salad with 1/2 cup of whipped cream or whipped topping before serving to add a creamy texture and enhanced flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh or canned fruit depending on preference; drain canned fruit well before adding.
  • For added texture, consider adding nuts or marshmallows.
  • To speed up the setting process, place the mold in the freezer for 1-2 hours, but do not freeze solid.
  • Use diet or sugar-free gelatin for a lower-calorie version.
  • Ensure gelatin is fully dissolved to avoid grainy texture.
