The Cowboy Club Sandwich is a hearty and flavorful layered sandwich featuring crispy bacon, tender turkey slices, sharp cheddar cheese, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomato, all stacked between toasted bread slices spread with creamy mayonnaise. This recipe combines classic sandwich elements to create a satisfying meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 3 slices bread, toasted
  • 6 slices turkey breast
  • 3 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Once done, transfer the bacon to paper towels to drain excess grease.
  2. Toast the Bread: While the bacon cooks, toast the slices of bread until golden brown and crisp.
  3. Prepare the Vegetables: Wash the tomato and slice it evenly. Shred the lettuce and set aside for layering.
  4. Layer the First Slice: On one slice of toasted bread, spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly. Top with two slices of turkey and one slice of cheddar cheese.
  5. Add Bacon: Place two slices of the crispy bacon over the cheese layer.
  6. Add Vegetables: Layer the shredded lettuce and tomato slices on top. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance the flavor.
  7. Top with Second Bread Slice: Place the second slice of toasted bread on top of the layered ingredients.
  8. Repeat Layers: Spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the top side of the second slice of bread. Add two more slices of turkey, another slice of cheddar cheese, the remaining two slices of bacon, shredded lettuce, and tomato slices.
  9. Finish with Final Bread Slice: Place the third slice of toasted bread on top, mayonnaise side down, to complete the sandwich.
  10. Cut and Serve: Use a sharp knife to cut the sandwich in half diagonally or straight down the middle. Secure with toothpicks if desired and serve immediately while fresh.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a slice of avocado or a splash of barbecue sauce.
  • Make sure to drain the bacon well to avoid a soggy sandwich.
  • Use fresh, crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes for the best texture and taste.
  • Can be made ahead and wrapped tightly, but toast the bread just before serving for optimal crispness.
